Child Rights & Juvenile Justice
The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) established the Resource Cell for Juvenile Justice (RCJJ) to work on issues relating to Child Rights and Juvenile Justice, under the larger theme of “Access to Justice for Children,” and with a focus on Children in Conflict with Law (CCL). Dhyas Foundation initially received technical help from the RCJJ, but eventually took over and maintained the work, particularly the Help Desk.
Access To Justice
Work to make the Juvenile Justice Act of 2015 more child-friendly (with special focus on CCLs). • Work on issues concerning children’s rehabilitation and social reintegration into society.
• Strengthen the capacities of Juvenile Justice System functionaries in order for them to function effectively in the system. • Create knowledge and information about children in the Juvenile Justice System.
We were able to reach out (provide various types of interventions) to more than 80 children in Thane District between July 2022 and December 2022. Many of the boys are self-employed, and many of them have attended school. Given the confidentiality of working with this group, we at Dhyas Community Development Foundation are unable to project our success stories.
